No Tuition is offered by the Society though we do have an occasional speaker or demonstration and members give mini talks from time to time on areas of expertise they feel are worthy of passing on.
As you will have read, picture sales are only through Exhibitions.
Our regular visitors at exhibitions tell us that our picture prices are low compared to other picture outlets. This may be so, but all our members are amateur, paint for pleasure, and we have no wish to build up large stocks of pictures in our lofts. The more we sell, the more we paint, and the better we get, and we believe this shows in the success we have.
We are happy to forward Email messages to members if their work interests you, and some members do undertake commissions.
All work is displayed as original work unless stated by the artist to be either a copy or based on another work. Copyright is retained by the artists and any original work in this web site is also copyright.
The LINKS pages are displayed in good faith and no responsibility is accepted for the content of any linked site.
We do maintain a mailing list, send out an occasional newsletter and each year send out invitations to our Christmas Show Preview Evening. If you would like to be added to our list, please let us know and we will be happy to include you in our group of ‘friends’.
At the start of 2010, The Society had approximately 22 members
We meet weekly and work on current projects with much discussion and advice circulated.
Four or Five exhibitions are held each year, and all regularly attending members are entitled to exhibit with no hanging fees and a contribution of 10% from any sales going to either the Society (to meet exhibition overheads), or to the venue (if a church), or a suitable local charity.
Our meeting venue is too small to accommodate all those who would like to join us, but our Secretary keeps a waiting list and will be happy to add your name if you are interested and are able to commit to regular Thursday evening meetings.
